Arthur To Rest Veterans For First Warm-Up

Morkel - Looking Forward To Locking Horns With KP.

South Africa coach Mickey Arthur will give his senior players some rest after their Test series victory over England.

South Africa will play two warm-up matches against the English Lions with the first one taking place on Thursday.

It's expected that speedster Dale Steyn will make a comeback after he fractured his thumb and had to watch from the bench for the last two Tests.

Thursday will also mark the return of Albie Morkel, Justin Ontong, Herschelle Gibbs, Vernon Philander and Johan Botha while veterans Graeme Smith, Mark Boucher and Jacques Kallis will sit out.

"The ODI players are ready for action after our success in the Test series. They also want a taste of it. Their enthusiasm will certainly help," Arthur said.

"I also want Jacques to get away from cricket for a while. I am not concerned about his batting in the long term but I'd like to give him a break."

The enthusiasm is building in the Proteas camp and the ODI players are looking forward to taking on Kevin Pietersen's troops.

Albie Morkel, who has been primed for the one-dayers, is particularly excited about the challenge.

"It should be a very good series, especially with Kevin Pietersen as the new England captain" he said.
