Surrey captain Mark Ramprakash hit the 100th first-class century of his career as his side's LV County Championship Division One match with Yorkshire ended in a draw.

The 38-year-old became just the 25th man in the history of the game to score 100 first-class hundreds with a chanceless ton, which came in 231 minutes off 196 balls and included nine fours and a six.

The former England and Middlesex batsman reached the landmark when he cut left-arm spinner David Wainwright to the boundary.

Ramprakash went on to carry his bat on 112 as Surrey closed on 264 for three after Scott Newman had earlier hit 129 before he was bowled by Wainwright.

Nottinghamshire remain at the top of the table despite the disappointment of a dull draw against Durham at Trent Bridge.

Stuart Broad claimed four for 39 to finish with the best figures for Nottinghamshire as Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Michael Di Venuto crawled to half-centuries to close out a stalemate which maintained a 10-point gap between these two title contenders.

Nic Pothas hit an unbeaten 105 as Hampshire secured a draw on a rain-affected final day against Kent at Canterbury.

Hampshire had resumed on 185 for six and only lost the wicket of Chris Tremlett (56) as Pothas reached his first Championship century this season in just over three hours play.

The visitors reached 311 for seven before the captains agreed to bring an end to the match with no result possible.

Sussex's match against Somerset at Horsham also fell victim to the weather with 42 overs of play lost as they game fizzled out to a draw.

Morning rain wiped out the pre-lunch session and when a start was eventually made at 2.20pm Sussex declared on their overnight 264 for five.

This left Somerset an improbable target of 336 in 54 overs, and they had reached 128 for two from 38 overs when stumps were drawn.

In Division Two, Worcestershire strolled to an innings and 142 run victory at the Cheltenham Festival to strengthen their position at the top of the table.

Gloucestershire resumed on 128 for four and, despite good resistance from David Brown (53) and Chris Taylor (27), victory was secured early in the afternoon session after Simon Jones and Imran Arif took the last four wickets in 18 deliveries.

Michael Powell emerged from a poor run of form to make his biggest score of the season and earn Warwickshire a draw against Leicestershire at Grace Road.

The Bears, following on 165 runs behind, successfully came through the final day - reaching 169 for three, with Powell 68 not out.

Stephen Peters hit an unbeaten century as Northamptonshire's clash with Derbyshire at Chesterfield also ended in a stalemate.

The 29-year-old finished on an unbeaten 104 to claim his 17th first-class hundred as Northamptonshire reached 216 for three before the teams shook hands on the draw.
